The project

Funere is a Swiss platform for announcing a death and bringing together the people who want to pay their respects. A family can publish an obituary in a few minutes. Relatives and friends then leave condolences, memories and photos, and the page stays online as a place to come back to on anniversaries.

The platform also lists funeral businesses by canton and lets families direct donations to an association in memory of the person. It runs in English, French, German and Italian. The project started under the name Wolky and now runs on funere.com.

What Vincent did

Vincent is co-founder and CTO, with Alessandro Soldati as CEO. He designed and built the platform: architecture, data model, payments for paid notices and donations, background jobs for email notifications, and the admin tools the team uses every day.

He is also responsible for performance, security and accessibility, and for the SEO work that lets a family find a notice by searching for a name, a town or a canton.
